SEO & AEO
Be the answer on Google and in AI.
I make service businesses easy to find in Google’s results and map pack, and easy to recommend in the answers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews give.
The short answer
SEO (search engine optimization) gets your business ranked in Google’s results and map pack. AEO (answer engine optimization) gets it named and cited in AI answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews. Both rest on the same foundation: a technically clean site, clear answers to real questions, structured data, a strong Google Business Profile and a consistent footprint across the web. I build both together.
How I approach it
The method.
- 01
Technical foundation
Fast pages, clean architecture, crawlable links, a sitemap and schema markup (Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Person, FAQ, Article) so search engines and language models can read the site without guessing.
- 02
Local SEO and the map pack
For local service businesses, the Google Business Profile often drives more calls than the website. I optimize categories, services, service areas, photos, posts and review responses, and keep your name, address and phone consistent across directories.
- 03
Answer-first content
Pages and articles answer the questions buyers actually ask, with the answer up front. That is the text Google’s featured snippets and AI assistants extract and cite.
- 04
Entity and authority
AI assistants recommend businesses they can verify. Consistent profiles, citations, reviews, author pages and mentions on trusted sites turn your business into a recognizable entity, not just a URL.
- 05
Measure and iterate
Search Console queries, rankings, map visibility and regular AI-answer checks are tracked every month, and content is added or updated where the gaps are.

FAQ
SEO & AEO, answered.
What is AEO?
AEO, answer engine optimization, is the practice of making your business the source that AI assistants and answer features quote and recommend. It focuses on clear, answer-first content, structured data, entity consistency across the web and allowing AI crawlers to read your site, so tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews can confidently name you.
What is the difference between SEO and AEO?
SEO aims to rank a page in a list of search results so people click it. AEO aims to be the answer itself, cited inside an AI response or featured snippet. They share the same foundation, so the best approach does both: rank the page, and write it so the key answer can be lifted and attributed to you.
How do I get my business recommended by ChatGPT?
Make your business easy to verify and easy to quote: a clear website that answers common questions directly, structured data that states who you are and what you do, a complete Google Business Profile with reviews, and consistent listings and mentions across the web. Allow AI crawlers in robots.txt and publish an llms.txt summary. There is no switch to flip, but these are the signals AI assistants rely on.
Does schema markup help SEO?
Schema does not directly raise rankings, but it helps search engines and AI understand exactly who you are and what each page covers, and it can make pages eligible for rich results. It is one of the cheapest ways to remove ambiguity about your business.
How long does SEO take?
Technical fixes and Google Business Profile improvements can show results within weeks. Rankings for competitive services usually build over several months, depending on competition, content and reviews. The upside is that it compounds: good pages keep bringing in leads without paying per click.
What is local SEO?
Local SEO is optimizing a business to appear when people nearby search for its services, especially in Google’s map pack. The biggest factors are a complete, active Google Business Profile, reviews, consistent name, address and phone across the web, and a website with clear service and location pages.
